THE CHALLENGE
We’re looking for a payroll‑focused professional who ensures every employee is paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance; while also providing reliable, steady support to our Accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, organization, and being the person others rely on when it comes to financial accuracy.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Bi‑Weekly Payroll Processing: Lead end‑to‑end payroll preparation and processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with legislative and internal requirements.
- Employee Data & Adjustments: Maintain payroll records, update compensation changes, process new hires/terminations, manage ROEs, benefits, and statutory deductions.
- Payroll Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile payroll accounts, prepare journal entries, support month‑end close, and provide payroll reports to HR and Finance.
- Employee Support: Respond to payroll inquiries with clarity and professionalism, ensuring confidentiality and a positive employee experience.
- Systems & Data Integrity: Maintain accurate data within ERP and payroll systems (e.g., Business Central, QuickBooks, ADP), ensuring audit‑ready records and strong internal controls.
- Accounts Payable Support: Assist the AP team with invoice entry, coding, and vendor inquiries during peak periods or as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and AP processes, contributing to efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure smooth payroll workflows and integrated financial processes.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Experience: 5+ years of experience focused heavily on payroll, with exposure to AP.
- Education: Post-secondary education in accounting, finances, business admin or other related field; PCP or CPA designation would be considered an asset.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accounting and payroll systems (QuickBooks, ADP, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central)
- Mindset: Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and alignment with our core values and Health and Safety policy.
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to X-Group safety policies and SOPs.
- PPE: Ability to wear required gear (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate an active industrial shop floor.
