Parts Technician (Apprentice) - Nisku, AB

Position: Full time/Apprenticeship
THE CHALLENGE
The Parts Technician Apprentice supports the warehouse by assisting with receiving, organizing, and distributing parts and materials. This role helps maintain accurate inventory, processes orders, and provides basic customer and technician support while learning warehouse procedures, parts systems, and safe material‑handling practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Parts Support: Assist in sourcing and ordering mechanical, electrical, and industrial parts for maintenance and production needs.
- Receiving & Inspection: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments; report discrepancies or damages.
- Inventory Management: Organize, label, and store inventory; maintain accurate records in ERP/CMMS systems and support cycle counts.
- Parts Issuance: Issue parts and tools to maintenance and production teams and replenish critical stock to prevent equipment downtime.
- Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized parts room and storage areas.
- Maintenance Planning Support: Help prepare parts kits for scheduled repairs, shutdowns, and planned maintenance activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, maintenance teams, suppliers, freight carriers, and apprenticeship program partners (NAIT/AIT).
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required to support department operations.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Experience: Background in an industrial or manufacturing environment is an asset, along with familiarity in parts handling or inventory roles.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital inventory management systems.
- Certification: Valid Forklift Certification is preferred (or the ability to obtain one).
- Mindset: Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and alignment with our mission to provide vendor-neutral energy solutions.
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to X-Group safety policies and SOPs.
- PPE: Ability to wear required gear (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate an active industrial shop floor.
