Buyer/Procurement Specialist - Nisku, AB

THE CHALLENGE
The Buyer / Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing all Canada-build components required for turbine packaging and assembly. This includes ducts, frames, MCC items, harness hardware, exhaust modules, doors/ladders, hose kits, skids (FG/LH/urea), roof-fire lines, and other critical assemblies. The role requires a deep understanding of the LT16 Bill of Materials (BOM) and S0–S8 kit structure, ensuring timely procurement, delivery risk mitigation, and vendor coordination. The Buyer works closely with Project Managers (PM) and Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) to maintain production schedules and compliance standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Proven experience procuring complex build components (ducts, frames, MCC items, skids, exhaust modules, doors, ladders, hose kits, and related systems).
- Strong supplier management skills, including relationship building, contract negotiation, and pricing optimization.
- Ability to interpret and manage BOMs and kit structures to support accurate procurement planning.
- Hands-on experience managing supplier lead times, expediting orders, and mitigating delivery risks.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with vendors, logistics partners, and quality teams to resolve issues and meet schedules.
- Cross‑functional collaboration skills with project management, engineering, production, and supplier quality teams.
- High attention to detail in maintaining purchase orders, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Data-driven mindset with experience preparing procurement reports, KPIs, and status updates.
- Continuous improvement focus, with a track record of reducing costs, improving supplier performance, and strengthening procurement processes.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree a plus).
- 5+ years of procurement or buying experience within industrial manufacturing, power generation, or heavy equipment environments.
- Strong experience managing complex BOMs and kit‑based assembly structures.
- Proven track record in vendor negotiation, expediting, and delivery risk management.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM or CPP strongly preferred; APICS CPIM/CSCP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or international trade certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with LT16 BOMs and S0–S8 kit structures preferred.
- Experience working with Canadian suppliers and cross‑border logistics is highly desirable.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

- Ability to travel within Canada and USA; must have a valid class 5 driver's license and passport
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Participate in pre-employment, pre-access, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. This position is considered safety sensitive.
