THE CHALLENGE
Lead heavy-lift and close-out execution for complex turbine assemblies, including generator lifts, precision alignment, torque verification, hydro testing, and final enclosure close-out. Ensure all systems meet engineering and safety standards and are validated for Factory Performance Testing through disciplined, hands-on leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Plan and execute generator heavy-lift operations using 30–60 ton cranes or gantries, ensuring proper rigging and load handling.
- Lead turbine and gearbox heavy-lift and precision alignment, utilizing laser alignment kits and coupling tools to achieve exact tolerances.
- Prepare and install lift lugs, shims, and datum stickers for accurate positioning and structural integrity.
- Perform precision alignment checks for generator, turbine, and gearbox assemblies to meet engineering specifications.
- Apply calibrated torque to critical fasteners and complete ship-torque tagging for traceability.
- Validate alignment and torque data before advancing to close-out stages.
- Oversee enclosure close-out, including installation of doors, panels, and roof-fire hardware kits.
- Conduct roof-fire hydrostatic testing using hydro hand-pumps and nitrogen gauge sets to verify leak-free performance.
- Complete final fluids installation, insulation application, and IR checks for electrical integrity.
- Execute S0G/S0H/S0H-EXT tasks, including:
- Preparing shims and lift lugs.
- Applying ship-torque tags and datum stickers.
- Finalizing roof-fire hardware kits on-bay for readiness.
- Performing IR checks and validate electrical grounding and bonding.
- Documenting all test results, torque readings, and alignment data in travelers for compliance.
- Ensuing readiness for Factory Performance Testing (FPT) by verifying all systems meet quality and safety standards.
- Safely operate heavy-lift equipment, including cranes, gantries, and rigging gear.
- Using precision alignment kits, calibrated torque tools, and hydro gear for testing and assembly.
- Maintaining and inspecting all tools and fixtures for operational readiness.
- Act as a hands-on leader, mentoring technicians on heavy-lift safety, alignment techniques, and close-out procedures.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Enforce OHS and company safety standards, including PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Conduct pre-lift safety checks and ensure proper rigging practices during heavy-lift operations.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
- Work closely with Engineering for technical clarifications and alignment specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections, torque verification, and traveler sign-offs.
- Communicate with Operations and Supply Chain teams regarding material availability and workflow priorities.
- Maintain accurate traveler documentation for all heavy-lift and close-out activities.
- Report progress, issues, and resource needs to Operations and Manufacturing Management.
- Support audits and compliance reviews by providing detailed records of assembly and testing activities.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years in mechanical assembly or fluid system integration in heavy industrial environments
- 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
- Associate degree or technical diploma in: Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field
- NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) or equivalent crane operation certification
- Rigging & Signal Person Certification
- Laser Alignment Certification
- Torque Tool Calibration & Verification Training
- Hydrostatic Testing Safety Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams of technicians, enforce safety standards, and deliver assemblies ready for Factory Performance Testing (FPT).
- Strong background in reading engineering drawings, interpreting technical specifications, and maintaining compliance with quality standards.

PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Participation in safety training programs, including hazard communication, emergency response, and travel safety.
- Ensure all sales team members are trained on site-specific safety protocols when visiting customer facilities or field operations.
- Participate in any required drug and alcohol testing. This position is considered safety sensitive.
- Understand and comply with the X-Group's safety polices, safe work SOPs, protocols, procedures, and rules.
- Wear required safety equipment and personal protective devices, including clothing mandated by legislation and the employer.
- Ensure the worksites is free of hazards that could cause slips, trips, or falls.
- Notify supervisors of any unsafe conditions or acts that may endanger workers.
- Report all accidents and Injuries to supervisors es soon as possible.
- Take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of other workers and oneself.
- Maintain a valid Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract.
- Maintain a valid passport and can travel internationally as required.
- Maintain a clean criminal background check.
- Ability to lift and maneuver components up to 50 lbs manually, frequent handling of rigging gear and tooling.
- Must stand and walk for 8–10 hours per shift in a manufacturing environment.
- Regular use of ladders, platforms, and fall-protection systems for overhead crane operations and enclosure close-out.
- Required for alignment, shimming, and torque verification tasks in confined spaces.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for precision alignment, torque tool operation, and handling small components.
- Ability to read detailed engineering drawings, perform IR checks, and detect abnormal sounds during assembly.
- Environmental Exposure: Work in areas with noise, vibration, heat, and fluids; must wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots).
- Shift Flexibility: Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime during critical close-out and FPT readiness phases.
